Take a step back in time and deilight in the quaint villages, majestic landscapes, and the friendliest people on earth.
The Rock
They don't call it the rock for nothing. The oldest geological formation on earth provides a back drop for pretty little fishing villages and people whose character and charm were formed out of centuries of living off the ocean.
Our adventure will take us to the cliffs of Cape St Mary's and to Bonavista, where the first European explorers first landed in what is now Canada. The cliffs and beaches are home to hundreds of species of birds and a half dozen species of whales, all of which pick early July to return to the Rock.

Itinerary
DAY 1:
Departure from St John's and head west. Stops in historic Brigus, Carbonear, Jobs Cove and many others along the way. This will be a day filled with whale watching and getting our feet wet.
We will spend the night in cabins near Hearts Delight.
DAY 2:
Today we drive up the penninsula to Bay de Verde with stops in New Perlican and Grates Cove. Today will focus on landscape, people, and Eagles.
DAY 3:
We will depart Hearts Delight early our way to Trinity. Once we arrive in Trinity, everyone will have a chance to explore on their own in one of Canada's most beautiful and historic towns. The lupins will be in full bloom and the colours will match the homes and buildings of the town. We will be spending the night in Trinity.
DAY 4:
Extra early morning. We are going to try to get out in the early morning light...hopefully a little foggy to visit Champneys West and then continue to Elliston for Puffins. The early start is so that we can beat the rush of tourists who will arrive late morning. Today will be one of our highlights, rain or shine.
DAY 5:
Another early morning is going to get us out onto a zodiac boat from Trinity. We will get up close and personal with whales, puffins, gannets, and eagles. A lot of eagles.
Our afternoon will be spent exploring a couple of small villages and perfecting landscape photography techniques.
DAY 6:
Yet another early morning! We depart Trinity and head southwest toward Cape St Mary's. This is another highlight day as we will picnic along the way at Gooseberry Cove. When we arrive at Cape St Mary's, we will be greeted by 20,000 mating pairs of Gannets, each with a six foot wingspan. This day does have a fair amount of walking as Bird Rock is a 3km round trip walk. It is worth every step. We will spend the night in Trepassey at the Edge of the Avalon Inn.
DAY 7:
We can sleep a little later today. We will spend the day at St Vincents Beach where whales come close to the shore to feed on Caplin spawning on the beach. Gannets overhead will plunge diving into the water for the same purpose.
DAY 8:
We will depart Trepassey following a hearty breakfast at the Inn. There will be stops in Ferryland, Merrymeeting, and a few other spots as we make our way back to St John's for roughly 2pm.

What our guests say
I have been on several photography trips with Greg Johnson and each time has been a wonderful adventure! From the accommodations to the very diversified itinerary and everything in between, Greg plans each trip with the intent of providing his guests with the best photographic opportunities available. I have come away from each trip with a treasure trove of photographs and memories.
I have had the opportunity to do several of Greg's camera adventure tours. From start to finish it is non stop excitement, laughter and unforgettable moments. Greg's energy, his passion for capturing that perfect photograph and teachings are second to none. My husband joined us on one of the Newfoundland excursions and had a fabulous time. The friendships you gain, the photographs you will take and memories you will make are priceless.
I had the opportunity to participate in Greg's Adventure Tour to Tanzania and if I had to express this trip in one word, it would be "magical". We were able to become one with nature and observe without being intrusive. Greg's guidance and encouragement helped me achieve beautiful photographic memories that will last a lifetime.
